Dr. James Edward Cole, Jr. is a versatile professional with a rich background in leadership and operational management. Currently serving as a Senior Utility Analyst with the City of Tallahassee, he leverages his expertise in data analysis and fiscal management to support strategic initiatives that modernize and advance the City’s utility services. Dr. Cole's career spans various industries, including education, logistics, banking, and finance. His roles have ranged from Chief Operations Officer at Supply Logistics & Procurement, LLC, to Director of Transportation at Leon County Schools, where he managed multi-million-dollar budgets and developed strategic plans.
Dr. Cole holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the University of South Florida, with a dissertation focused on addressing school bus driver shortages post-COVID-19. He also earned an MBA and MPH from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where he received several accolades, including the Dr. David Satcher Public Health Leadership Award. His academic and professional achievements are complemented by certifications in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and leadership from prestigious institutions.

Dr. Cole is a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, serves as Treasurer of J.R.E. Lee Sr. Lodge #422, F&AM, Prince Hall Affiliation, and is an active member of the 100 Black Men of Tallahassee. He also serves as a member and Webmaster for Mt. Sinai AME Church and as Treasurer for Hope House Transitional Living Facility for Men, reflecting his ongoing commitment to service, mentorship, and community leadership.
Dr. Cole is married to Dr. Kanesha Cole, a general dentist practicing in the city of Tallahassee, specializing in cosmetic dentistry. They have two children, 11-year-old twins, Scott Jayson and Kaylin Rose Cole.
